| Two kg of ivory seized, one arrested

One
man was arrested with two kg of ivory in a joint operation involving
the Forest Department and two wildlife NGOs. The man was nabbed in the
Chillawali area in Haridwar with the wildlife contraband on Thursday
and a motorcycle was also seized from his procession.
The Rajaji
National Park special operations group, Wildlife Protection Society of
India and Endangered Flora and Fauna on Earth Conservation Team
(EFFECT) were involved in the operation.
According to EFFECT,
chairman, Abhishek Singh, the accused Deepak Kumar Saini was arrested
with the ivory which he was trying to sell to the NGO members acting as
decoy customers.
