Electrocution results in 8 accidental killings

On the night of 1st April 2008, one male elephant calf, a male sambhar, 4 buffaloes and 2 buffalo calves were electrocuted at Kham Kshetra, Papidanda Beat  in the Laldhang range of the Landsdown forest division in Kotdwar, Uttarakhand. A high tension wire in severe need of repair was found to be the cause of this accident. The Forest officials have contacted the Electricity Department to make the needed repairs.
